My only complaint about this place is that I ate too much. Our waiter, Ryan, was absolutely a treat and the food was awesome. The staff seemed to be in good spirits despite their air conditioning being out and I can't wait to go back.

Our waiter was great. Very nice. But we came as a party. First off they wouldn't seat us until everyone was here, even though the restaurant was essentially empty. And then they split the party into different tables. They told us they could not accommodate us with the tables (despite all the empty tables) and so they did 2 tables and then put the rest of us at a separate booth. We were essentially two separate parties and it was just displeasing.
As well the hostess was slightly attitudish with us trying to be seated together.
Also the food was subpar. One of my friend's entrees was cold. And the meat was overcooked.
Overall just not a good experience -

This is my second time here the first with a small group and the second with a large group.
The first time I went and the meat was over cooked and the tacos were just awful I could only get through one as it was less than satisfying. I did not think I would be going back but I did for a friends birthday.
For the positive: the waiter was nice, but that was it.
Negatives; they seating arrangement was very awkward and they did not try hard to accommodate us. The hostess was nasty and unhelpful. She made our group feel like we were making her life miserable when the restaurant was empty. They messed up my order and had to come back with the right sides. However the most disappointing part was the meat is always over cooked and dry and very under seasoned. The food is just so severely over cooked.
While the restaurant is cute and kitschy the food is almost inedible. Not a fan. Won't be back.

Happy Cinco DeMayo! Decided at the last minute to go out and celebrate. Able to get into The Velvet Cactus with a short wait. The party was on and it was fun to be part of it. The Velvet Cactus is always fun and interesting and tonight was now exception. The Summer drink menu has some fruity and umami margarita flavors to try. We enjoyed a Blood Orange Mango Marg and a Coconut Mango Habanero. The former was a little too sweet but the latter while sweet had the spicy essence of the Habanero chili too! We both enjoyed Enchiladas. One chicken and one pork and both were great.
For an impromptu outing it went well!! -

I have been to Velvet Cactus a couple times and it isn't bad! It's not too much to rave about either. I will say you get a very large amount of food for the price which is really good. However in regards to the taste, it's just ok.
On my last visit I asked about a chimichanga and was told that they are premade......I wanted ground beef and they couldn't make that. For the brussel sprouts, I asked could I get them with out the pumpkin seeds and was told that that they were pre made.
The shrimp and grits are ok you get a ton of shrimp and they are a little spicy but I didn't mind that at all
All and all it isn't bad but it's not much to rave about either
